In honor of Earth Day🌎 (April 22nd) and ahead of Arbor Day 🌳 (April 26th), Fuller Village was pleased to receive a generous donation of 50 tree saplings from Bartlett Tree Experts, Fuller’s arborists. Bartlett has a tree seedling initiative and helped Fuller identify where and how to plant the donated saplings on our campuses this week. Located atop Great Blue Hill right here in Milton, it is home to the oldest continuous weather record in North America and was the location of the earliest kite soundings of the atmosphere in North America in the 1890s, as well as the development of the radiosonde in the 1930s. Presented by Don McCasland, Director of Operations and former Program Director. Don is an educator and kite historian who joined the staff in 2000. He has taught about harnessing the wind with kites and sky appreciation for over 35 years. This Throwback Thursday #TBT is brought to you by dreams of warmer temperatures and fond memories of last summer when The Fuller Village Adventure Club took the Fuller Village’s theme “Live a Fuller Life” to new heights! In August 2023, four residents spent two days climbing to the top of Mount Washington, the highest point on the East coast. Nancy Wilbur, Mary Ann Millsap, Jane Cotter, Barbara Cocci, and Irene Brannelly trained for the event by: 🥾hiking over 40 miles of trails 💪spending approximately 200 collective hours in Fuller Village’s fitness center 😲completing about 3,742 squats As members of the Fuller Village Adventure Club, formed by Jen DeLeonardis, the community’s Fitness Director, these women, along with Jen and her partner Professor Robert Rennan, hiked five miles during the two-day climb which included a 3,250 -foot gain in elevation and an overnight stay in bunk beds at the Lake of the Clouds hut before reaching the 6,288’ summit on August 4, 2023. Congrats to Fuller’s Hiker & Adventure Club members for a successful two-day climb and reaching Mt Washington’s summit! So proud of our resident hikers and grateful for the amazing community encouragement they received!

Milton’s Director of Veterans Services Kevin J Cook, the Town of Milton and Fuller Village announce that Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Boston Mr. Kim Jae-hui will be visiting Milton to honor our Korean War Veterans. There will be a reception at Fuller Village, 1372 Brush Hill Rd, Milton MA 02186 at 3:00 pm on Tuesday July 25th. Welcoming remarks will be given by Milton’s Director of Veterans Services Kevin J Cook and local officials. Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Boston, Kim Jae-hui, will present the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal to local Korean War Veterans and survivors of Korean Veterans from Milton. This commemorative medal is an expression of appreciation from the Korean government to service men and women who served in Korea during the Korean War. Milton Veterans Services will also honor all our Korean War Era Veterans who served during the period of the Korean War from 1950-1954 in support of those who deployed to Korea. We are proud to have current Fuller Village residents and former residents posthumously honored during this ceremony and reception. Fuller Village was pleased to recently host BI Deaconess - Milton Hospital’s President, Rich Fernandez, along with Daniel Nadworny and Amy Morrison, to discuss with our residents about the hospital’s proposed emergency department and inpatient expansion. The speakers also shared very helpful guidance regarding the differences between urgent care vs. emergency care. Grateful for our community partners in Milton! Looking forward to future talks at Fuller from BID-Milton Hospital.
